The author answers to questions from addressee's letter of 10 December. He informs on the schedule for Volume 6. The addressee has asked to prepare a preface for the hard bound Volume 6.

C.Shaw sends four papers by W.H.Burge to all the editors and asks their opinions about considering any of the four papers for publication in ARAP. He informs on completion of the editorial work for Volume 6. He raises perplexing questions about publisher and Volume 7.

Author informs that the addressee's paper has been accepted for publication in the Annual Review. It's necessary to react to Bob Floyd's comments and to send the revised document to Mr. Alan J. Steel, Chief Book Editor of Pergamon Press, who will be expecting it.

The fifth volume of Annuel Review has been published. The volume is a handsome one and seems to be very well printed. The authors have sent to Pergamon much of the contents of the next volume. They are still dissatisfied by the paucity of contributions from outside the English-speaking community.

Director of Britannica Reviews suggests to the Editorial Board of ARAP collaboration in publishing Annual Review series. He represents a compensation plan and a few editorial changes that would be desirable in the series.

The author politely rejects a proposal of Britannica Reviews. The Editorial Board of Annual Review considers that the current arrangement with Pergamon Press is preferable.

The author encloses copies of two papers submitted for publication in the ARAP.

Before volume 6 to be issued shortly the authors review accomplishments and plans for the future. In particular, they are disappointed by the very small number of contributions from outside the United States. In this connection the following editors are noted: Floyd, Brooker, Bolliet, Ershov and Inada.

Pergamon Press sends his check for $915.28 as requested in the addressee's letter of April 13, 1971. The publishing parts 1&2 of volume 5 or the complete volume is discussed in the letter.

M.Halpern discusses results of the last few months, personnel changes in the Editorial Board, a preparing of the volume 7. There is a handwritten request to A.Ershov about getting papers for volume 7. The Attachment contains Royalty Statement from Pergamon Press and a list of contributions for volume 7&later.

The author continues to discuss a theme of publishing and the salability of individual parts of ARAP volumes. He thinks the part sales will be successful.

The author suggests to open the account for payments from Pergamon Press to all the editors of ARAP as "joint tenants". In order to open such account each of the editors must fill a set of forms. There is a handwritten salutation to A.Ershov in the end of the letter.

The author has received an advance copy of volume 6 and discusses the contributions for Volume 7. Status of these contributions is represented in the Attachment.

The author thanks A.Ershov for the paper by Zagatsky and for agreeing to serve as responsible editor for the paper by Bekic.

The author reports that Maxwell, the head of Pergamon, keeps his promise and the translation of the Zagatsky paper should be complete in about a month. After this useful precedent, he hopes the addressee will provide with more papers from the USSR.
