The author informs of appearing the paper "Translator Writing Systems" in the "Communications of ACM". They would like to receive any comments of Annual Review Editorial Board which may be available.

The author encloses the notice about the late Richard Goodman, written by Dr.Bryan Higman. He informs that Mr. Colouris is revising his paper and send it to the editors by the end of this month.

The author sends a copy of the revised version of Bemer's paper on ALGOL. He thinks it's necessary to accept his paper for publication. Mr.Halpern and the author are going to write a preface for the next volume, paying tribute to Goodman's part in the history of the Annual Review.

Author is inclosing a copy of comments on Colouris's paper. He regrets that the publication of Lucas and Walk's paper on definition of PL/1 is deferred.

Halpern and Shaw have to report to Editorial Board members a decision, that they have been forced by circumstances to take without their consent: to publish new paper of Dr. A.L.Samuel instead of Lucas's paper.

Reply to the letter of July, 11. Authors submit the paper for the following volume. To the end of this year they hope to improve the second version of their formal definition of PL/1.
