Discussion of the problems concerning A.P. Ershov’s work on translation of some books and invitation of Prof. Randell. Enclosed is Yu.A. Schnaider’s review of the book “Informatik” by F. Bauer and G.Goos; it is stated that the authors’ idea to combine the problems of programming and computer logic into a common science seems hardly successful, but it would be advisable to translate the second chapter under the title “Introduction to algorithmic languages”.
