ADDITIONAL GROUNDS
For
sending Acad. A.P.Ershov and Senior
Researcher V.K.Sabelfeld to FRG in the 2nd
quarter of
1986 for the term of one week at the
expense of the USSR AS
The
object of the trip is participation in
the IFIP Working Conference on program
specification and
transformation and the meeting with the
specialists of the Informatics Institute
of the Munich
Technical University.
The
conference topic lies completely in the
field of my personal scientific research
in the theory of
mixed computation and its application to
the decision of a number of problems in
system
programming. V.K. Sabelfeld and I are
planning to present three papers
containing some priority
points. The research in mixed
computation carried out in the USSR is
of advanced nature (let me
remind of the Acad. Krylov Award) and we
have no reason to enfeeble its impact on
the progress in
this branch of informatics in other
countries.
The
prospective trip will be my first after
the serious illness, and it will be very
important for me to
reestablish contacts with the colleagues
and to feel a full-fledged member of the
group of scientists
doing research in this field.
A
visit to the Informatics Institute of
the Munich Technical University – the
sponsor of the
mentioned conference - is another reason
of no less importance in favor of the
trip.
The
USSR SBAS Computing Center and the
Informatics Institute maintain highly
productive and
beneficial scientific connections for
more than twenty years. These
connections helped us to
maintain a world level of our research
and knowledge in adjoining research. The
principal partner of
this collaboration on the West German
part is Prof. F.L. Bauer, the
Institute’s Scientific Director, a
member of Bayern Academy of Sciences and
the leading scientist in West German
informatics.
The
next year Prof. Bauer retires and it is
extremely important for us to ensure
continuity of
scientific cooperation with the
Informatics Institute. Of course it can
only be achieved only by
means of personal contact and
demonstration of our scientific results
being of interest to the other
party.
Participation
of V.K. Sabelfeld in the planned trip is
expedient not only by virtue of his
scientific
competence and free German, but for the
most part also, him being my closest
colleague, for
rendering assistance in expansion of
field of operations during the trip,
especially in the part of
establishing scientific contacts with
younger colleagues from the Informatics
Institute.
