                    Algorithms in the Limelight

September 18, a sequel of Professor H. Zemanek (Austria) talk “Al-Khorizmi Works” started the
third working day of International Symposium “Algorithms in Modern Mathematics and its
Applications”.

The Lenin Prize winner, Professor Yu.I.Manin (Moscow) presented a talk “Algorithm as
Mathematical Model”.

A Dutch scientist, Professor A.vanWijngaarden made a presentation called “Languageless
Programming”.

Then a general discussion on the topic of “How to write a computer program containing million
instructions?” was held.

The afternoon session of the symposium was opened by a talk “A Scheme of Mathematical Theory
of Program Complexes” given by N.N. Nepeivoda (Izhevsk), Ph.D. in physics and mathematics.

Doctor of engineering, Professor of Tallinn Institute E.H.Tyugu gave a talk called “Structural
Program Synthesis”.

A. Kreczmar (Poland), assistant professor of Warsaw Institute of Informatics, delivered a talk
”Some Historical Notes in Algorithmic Logics”. The issues of up-to-date approach to the theory of
computation were considered in presentations by a National Prize winner, doctor of physical and

mathematical sciences, Professor A.A. Letichevsky (Kiev) – “In Pursuit of Connections in
Informatics”, and by professor of PRP AS Institute of Informatics Foundations A. Mazurkiewicz –
“Parallel Algorithms”.
