Autobiography

                                                    Autobiography

I, Andrei Petrovich Ershov, was born in 1931in Moscow. In 1937 together with my family I moved
to Rubezhnoe, Voroshilovgrad Region, where our family lived until the May of 1943. For six
months, since the August of 1942 to the February of 1943, Rubezhnoe was occupied by German
troops.

In the May of 1943 our family moved to Kemerovo, the city to which a part of Rubezhnoe
Chemical industrial complex where my father worked was evacuated. On arrival my father started
working at the Kemerovo aniline dye factory, where he is working hitherto.

In 1949 I finished Kemerovo school N7 with gold medal and entered the physical & engineering
epartment of Moscow State University the same year. In my second year I was transferred to the
mathematical & mechanical department; I graduated from the University in 1954. After graduation I
was assigned for postgraduate study in computing mathematics, which I completed in 1957.

Since the autumn of 1953 I worked at the USSR AS Institute of Precise Mechanics and Computing
Techniques in the programming department. In 1955, when the Computing Center of the USSR
Academy of Sciences was founded, I went to work there. At present I work there as a head of the
department of theoretical programming.

In 1946 I joined the L.Y.C.L.S.U. (Leninist Young Communist League of the Soviet Union). During
the period of my membership in the L.Y.C.L.S.U. at school and at the University I was engaged in
different public affairs in elective organs. I left the ranks of the L.Y.C.L.S.U in 1957 having
exceeded the age limit.

In 1958 I was sent to assignments to Hungary for two weeks and to England for two weeks.

Besides my primary job I teach at the Moscow State University (supervision of Master of Sciences
 theses).
